NDDC Embraces KPMG Report To Drive Transformation, Says Ogbuku

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has received a comprehensive governance advisory report from KPMG, which it intends to implement immediately to improve its operations.

The report, presented at the NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt, describes a strategic shift from transactional to transformational governance.

Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, NDDC Managing Director, praised the report as an important tool for achieving this transition. He emphasised the report’s timely arrival, which coincided with the Commission’s possession of a functional budget, allowing for immediate implementation.

“This report will serve as a guide once the board approves it,” Ogbuku said. “Once approved, it becomes a policy statement for all directorates and departments.”

He emphasised the NDDC’s commitment to strictly following the report’s recommendations during the implementation stage.

The MD emphasised the importance of developing a new organisational culture based on strong ethics and good corporate governance in order to improve internal processes and protocols.

Mr. Olugbenga Afuwape, KPMG Manager, described the report’s structure, revealing seven policy documents, including six charters that cover risk management, internal controls, stakeholder engagement, board policies, and key management policies.

Afuwape assured that KPMG would continue to assist NDDC in fine-tuning its internal processes and increasing accountability and transparency.

Hon. Alabo Boma Iyaye, Executive Director of Finance and Administration at the NDDC, and Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, Executive Director of Corporate Services, have both expressed their support for the report and the partnership with KPMG.

Iyaye described the review as timely and promised full implementation of all recommendations, anticipating improved service delivery and stakeholder satisfaction.

Abegunde praised KPMG’s thorough work and expressed confidence that the collaboration would effectively facilitate the NDDC’s reform and transformation.

The report’s implementation is expected to significantly increase the NDDC’s efficiency and accountability.
