Governor Zulum Unveils Remodelled State Hotel, Boosts Economic Hopes
Maiduguri, Borno State – Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, on Monday commissioned a newly remodelled Borno State Hotel in Maiduguri, marking a significant step towards revitalising the state’s economy and creating jobs.
The hotel boasts a striking blend of contemporary and traditional Borno architecture, featuring upgraded facilities including a state-of-the-art conference hall, luxurious suites, and a restaurant offering both local and international cuisine.
Speaking to journalists following the commissioning ceremony, Governor Zulum highlighted the project’s potential to stimulate economic growth and generate revenue for the state.
He emphasised the administration’s commitment to creating employment opportunities, particularly for the youth.
The refurbishment of the Borno State Hotel is part of a wider strategy to diversify the state’s revenue streams and reduce reliance on federal allocations.
Governor Zulum announced that his administration has already commenced the reconstruction of the Maiduguri International Hotel, another state-owned property.
“The State Hotel has been rehabilitated very well,” Zulum stated. “My administration is working towards investments that can sustain the state even without federal allocation; one way we can do this is by ensuring that we revive most of our moribund institutions, and this hotel is one of them.”
He further pledged to continue investing in revenue-generating sectors throughout his remaining term. Zulum issued a strong warning to the hotel management, emphasising the importance of ensuring timely payment for all services rendered to the government, public officials, and politicians.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by key government officials, including the Secretary to Borno State Government, Alhaji Bukar Tijani, and the Head of Service, Barrister Mallam Fannami, along with several commissioners and senior government functionaries.
The revitalised Borno State Hotel is expected to become a key player in the state’s tourism and hospitality sector, contributing significantly to its economic recovery and development.
