NDDC Denies Mismanagement Of Palliatives In Cross River State
Port Harcourt, Nigeria –The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has categorically denied allegations of mismanaged palliative distribution in Cross River State, calling reports of unfair allocation and the use of unauthorised beneficiary lists “false and mischievous.”
In a press statement issued today by NDDC Director of Corporate Affairs Seledi Thompson-Wakama, the commission stated that palliatives, rather than cash, were distributed fairly across all nine mandate states, including Cross River, with recipients expressing joy and gratitude.
The statement specifically denies allegations of diverted funds and an unauthorised beneficiary list, claiming that the list was duly approved by the NDDC Board.
Thompson-Wakama emphasised the NDDC’s commitment to transparency and accountability, as well as its “Making a Difference” mantra.
To support this commitment, the NDDC hired KPMG, a global business consulting firm, to review and strengthen its corporate governance, internal processes, and institutional protocols, resulting in a new institutional culture based on sound ethics and good corporate governance.
The NDDC reaffirmed its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasising its collaboration with development partners and state governments to build a “socially stable, economically prosperous, ecologically regenerative, and politically peaceful” Niger Delta region.
The commission urged the public to disregard false narratives aimed at derailing its ongoing initiatives, which are led by Chairman Mr. Chiedu Ebie and Managing Director Dr. Samuel Ogbuku.
The statement concluded with a firm commitment to continue its efforts and make a positive difference in the Niger Delta region.
