Greenville LNG Ushers In New Era Of Sustainable Transportation In Nigeria
Greenville LNG, a leading force in domestic gas infrastructure development and distribution, is making waves in Nigeria’s transportation sector by spearheading the adoption of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as a cleaner, more cost-effective fuel alternative.
Greenville LNG has successfully fueled the retrofitted locomotive engines of the Nigerian Railway Corporation’s (NRC) Abuja-Kaduna train with LNG, marking a significant step towards a greener and more efficient railway system.
This initiative, a collaboration with the De-Sadel Consortium retrofitted the locomotives with LNG kits, demonstrates NRC’s commitment to energy transition and aligns with the Nigerian Gas Initiative Vision.
Key Highlights:
Successful Test Drives: Greenville LNG’s Mobile LNG Dispensing Truck fueled the NRC locomotive engines at the Idu Abuja Railway Station, enabling successful test drives with passengers on board. The trains completed routes between Idu, Kubwa, and Kaduna, showcasing the viability of LNG as a fuel source.
Cost Savings and Environmental Benefits: This transition to LNG is expected to significantly reduce operational costs by approximately 70% and contribute to a cleaner environment.
The project signifies a long-term partnership between Greenville LNG and NRC, aimed at reshaping the future of railway transportation in Nigeria.
In another groundbreaking move, Greenville LNG has fueled Ekeson Transport’s LNG-powered luxury buses in Lagos.
This is a first-of-its-kind initiative in West Africa, showcasing the potential of LNG to revolutionize road transportation.
The Federal Government, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, is actively promoting the transition to LNG and CNG as sustainable alternatives to diesel fuel.
The Ministry of Transportation has been instrumental in supporting this initiative, recognizing the economic and environmental benefits of adopting LNG
Greenville LNG continues to demonstrate its commitment to community engagement and collaboration with law enforcement agencies.
A recent visit by senior law enforcement officers to the Greenville LNG Gas Plant in Rumuji, Rivers State, highlighted the importance of mutual understanding and cooperation for a safe and secure operating environment.
Greenville LNG’s efforts in the transportation sector are a testament to its commitment to promoting a clean, sustainable, and energy-efficient future for Nigeria.
The company’s leadership and innovative approach are shaping the nation’s energy landscape, paving the way for a more sustainable and prosperous future.
