Thousands Benefit from Tinubu’s Free Cesarean Section Initiative, TDF Commends Government
Abuja, Nigeria – The Democratic Front (TDF) has praised the federal government’s free Caesarean section initiative, citing its effectiveness during the pilot phase.
TDF Chairman Mallam Danjuma Muhammad and Secretary Chief Wale Adedayo released a statement today revealing that the program has already benefited 2,819 women.
The TDF praised the initiative as a significant step towards reducing maternal mortality in Nigeria, which aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
The party emphasised the program’s success, stating that over 104 health facilities across the country have joined the initiative, with funds successfully disbursed for the first phase.
The statement emphasised that the program will cover the full cost of treatment for Nigeria’s five leading causes of maternal death: haemorrhage, pre-eclampsia, sepsis, post-abortion complications, and obstructed labour.
The TDF also praised the government’s overall commitment to healthcare improvement, citing numerous investments and successful health projects undertaken by the Federal Ministry of Health and the Presidency.
The party also drew attention to President Tinubu’s June 2024 Executive Order, which aims to make Nigeria a global hub for health products and technology manufacturing.
The TDF noted that this initiative is already boosting local production, reducing medical tourism, and creating jobs in the healthcare sector.
The Maternal and Newborn Mortality Reduction Initiative (MNMR), which provides free Caesarean sections, was cited as another example of the administration’s progressive approach to healthcare.
The TDF concluded by urging Nigerians, particularly women, to continue to support President Tinubu’s efforts to reduce healthcare disparities and ensure equitable access to essential services.
