ENWAF Celebrates Immunisation Week, Urges Parents To Vaccinate Children
The Eunice Nnachi Women Advocacy Foundation (ENWAF) has joined the global community in commemorating World Immunisation Week, calling for higher vaccination rates to combat preventable diseases.
With the theme “Immunisation for All is Humanly Possible,” the week, which runs from April 24th to 30th, serves as a timely reminder of vaccines’ life-saving potential.
Lady Eunice Nnachi, Chief Executive Officer of ENWAF, spoke at the Zarama Health Centre in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, emphasising the foundation’s commitment to educating communities about the importance and benefits of vaccination through community outreach.
“ENWAF is deeply committed to raising awareness of vaccines’ critical role in disease prevention,” Lady Nnachi stated. “We are integrating immunisation education into school curricula and community health programs, as well as providing vaccines during medical outreach missions in underserved areas.”
The foundation’s outreach is consistent with global efforts to ensure equitable access to immunisation for all, acknowledging its critical role in protecting vulnerable populations, particularly children.
Mrs. Mabel Seyeifa Iberia, Assistant Chief Health Education Officer, spoke at the event and echoed ENWAF’s sentiment, encouraging women to continue immunising their children. “Vaccines are safe and effective, providing vital protection against preventable diseases,” she stated.
Beyond immunisation, the event addressed important social issues. Blessing Ewerem, Program Officer for Voice of the Ijaw Girl Child, spoke passionately about the dangers of gender-based violence and urged parents to keep their children safe from predators.
Mrs. Blessing Moses, a mother present at the health centre, expressed her gratitude to the health officials for the efficient healthcare services they provided, emphasising the positive impact of accessible healthcare on communities.
ENWAF’s World Immunisation Week celebration highlights the critical need for ongoing efforts to promote vaccination and ensure the health and well-being of children in Bayelsa State and beyond.
The foundation intends to continue its outreach efforts, working towards a future in which all children have access to life-saving immunisations.
