Obi Donates N100m To Anambra Healthcare System, Underscores Commitment To Development
Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has announced a N100 million donation to the IHM Health System, the state’s main healthcare provider.
The donation, described in a post on X (formerly Twitter), includes N75 million previously given to the system’s specialist hospital in Nkpor and an additional N25 million to support their work in rural communities.
Obi’s recent visit to the IHM Health System facility in Mmiata, Anambra East Local Government Area, demonstrated the critical need for healthcare access in remote areas. He emphasised the facility’s importance as the only hospital serving the community.
Obi stated that the facility, which was handed over during his governorship, has been significantly expanded and improved. He collaborated with Professor Ozuah on both donations.
Obi’s donation demonstrates his long-standing commitment to investing in health, education, and poverty alleviation.
He reiterated his belief that such investments are the most effective path to national development, citing his ongoing support for these areas throughout his public service career.
“Investing in critical areas such as health, education, and poverty alleviation through small business support and humanitarian gestures remains the most effective path to national growth and development,” Obi wrote in his X post.
He thanked the IHM Health System’s owners, management, and employees for their dedication and selfless service, praising their efforts to provide healthcare to underserved communities. Obi ended his post with his signature slogan,
“A New Nigeria is Possible if We Work Towards It.” The donation demonstrates Obi’s continued commitment to grassroots development and his vision for a more equitable and prosperous Nigeria.
