Lighthouse University Opens Doors To Pioneer Students
Evbuobanosa, Edo State – Lighthouse University, a newly established private institution in Evbuobanosa, Edo State, has admitted its first students for the 2024/2025 academic year.
Rev. Dr. Felix Omobude, the university’s Chancellor, made the announcement after meeting with senior management.
Lighthouse University, which is located along the Benin-Agbor Motorway in the Orhionmwon Local Government Area, received its operational licence from the Federal Government of Nigeria last year.
It provides a variety of undergraduate programs, including B.Sc. degrees in Accounting, Computer Science, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Mass Communication, Microbiology, Political Science, Public Administration, Laboratory Technology, Sociology, and Social Work.
Rev. Dr. Omobude emphasised the university’s commitment to providing a global education that promotes critical thinking, innovation, and excellence.
He emphasised that Lighthouse University seeks to produce globally competitive graduates with entrepreneurial skills. “We are not here to make up the numbers,” he declared, “but to provide quality education and contribute to the development of our country.”
Omobude, who is also the General Superintendent of Gospel Light International Ministries and a former PFN national president, expressed gratitude for the realisation of his vision and hope for the university’s future, which includes a strong commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility within the host community of Evbuobanosa, his ancestral home.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Anthony Imianvan, echoed the Chancellor’s sentiments, expressing excitement about the start of academic activities and emphasising the university’s commitment to a diverse and inclusive learning environment. He also mentioned that there are still openings for qualified applicants.
Early student feedback has been extremely positive. Miss Oyemwen Ofure Favour (Science Laboratory Technology) described the university as “very nice, friendly and accommodating,” and Miss Testimony (Social Studies) praised the conducive learning environment.
Both expressed their joy at being members of the pioneer class. The positive initial response points to a promising start for Lighthouse University as it embarks on its mission to provide quality higher education in Edo State.
