CAN Offers Condolences To Families Of Niger State Tanker Explosion
The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Niger State chapter, has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic tanker explosion that occurred Saturday morning along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway near Dikko junction, claiming nearly 100 lives.
The association extended its condolences to Governor Mohammed Umar Bago and the people of Niger State.
In a statement released today, State Chairman Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, offered prayers for the deceased and wished a speedy recovery for those injured.
“We pray that God grant all the dead eternal rest and grant speedy healing to all the victims nursing injuries,” the statement read.
Bishop Yohanna conveyed the grief of the entire Christian community in Niger State, stating,
“We the Christian community in Niger state are deeply saddened by the Saturday morning devastating incident; we stand with the state government and share in the pains of this difficult time.”
He specifically extended sympathy to Governor Bago, the Suleja Emirate Council, and the families of the victims.
Describing the explosion as “worrisome, heartbreaking and unfortunate,” Bishop Yohanna urged all road users, particularly motorists, to exercise greater caution to prevent similar tragedies.
He called for divine intervention, praying for eternal rest for the deceased and quick recovery for the injured.
The CAN chairman commended the state government’s swift response to the emergency and its support for affected families and those hospitalized. The exact number of casualties is still being determined, but the death toll currently stands at nearly 100.
