Obi Mourns Akwa Ibom First Lady, Offers Condolences To Governor Eno
UYO, AKWA IBOM STATE – Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party Presidential candidate in 2023, Peter Obi, paid a sombre visit to Uyo yesterday to express his condolences following the passing of Akwa Ibom State’s First Lady, Pastor Mrs Patience Eno.
Obi, in a post on his verified X account, detailed his trip, emphasising the gravity of the loss and offering heartfelt sympathies to Governor Umo Eno and the people of Akwa Ibom State.
The post, which garnered significant attention across social media, detailed Obi’s journey to Uyo to pay his respects.
He described the visit as a “solemn trip,” underscoring the seriousness and sensitivity of the occasion.
The former governor specifically mentioned offering his condolences personally to Governor Eno, acknowledging the profound grief experienced by the governor and his family.
Obi’s message, while succinct, carried a weight of emotional resonance.
He acknowledged the limitations of words in the face of such profound sorrow, stating, “In moments of grief like this, words often fail us.”
However, he expressed his hope that the outpouring of love and support from across the state and beyond would provide some comfort during this difficult time.
The post concluded with a deeply personal touch, as Obi extended condolences not only on his behalf but also on behalf of his wife, Margaret, and the broader “Obidient” family, a reference to his significant and passionate following from his 2023 presidential campaign.
He offered prayers for strength and fortitude, conveying a message of solidarity and shared grief.
“We stand with you in prayer, trusting that God will grant you the strength and fortitude to navigate these difficult times,” he wrote.
Obi’s visit and public statement are being seen as a gesture of respect and compassion, transcending political affiliations in the face of shared human sorrow.
The death of the First Lady has understandably cast a pall over Akwa Ibom State, and Obi’s public expression of sympathy highlights the widespread grief and the outpouring of support for the Governor and his family.
The event underscores the unifying power of empathy in times of national mourning.
Further details regarding the funeral arrangements for Pastor Mrs. Patience Eno are expected to be released by the Akwa Ibom State Government in the coming days.
