Nigeria To Produce 2.5m Eggs Daily, Builds Gigantic Poultry Farm With Chinese
Abuja, Nigeria – Nigeria plans to significantly increase its egg production by constructing a massive poultry farm capable of producing 2.5 million eggs per day.
This ambitious project is the result of a recent visit to China by a Nigerian delegation led by Joseph Tegbe, the Director-General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP).
The farm will be built in collaboration with the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), according to a statement released on Monday.
The agreement is a significant step towards strengthening Nigeria and China’s bilateral relations and economic cooperation.
The project will be funded using “innovative funding models,” according to the statement, but no specifics were provided.
During the NCSP delegation’s visit to China, several significant agreements were reached. A collaboration with the Chilwee Group, a Chinese battery manufacturer, aims to improve Nigeria’s energy security by investing in manufacturing, sales, and possibly raw material mining for power storage solutions.
Furthermore, CPL Medical Group, CSSC Haishen Medical Technology Co Ltd, and China Habour Engineering Company have reached an agreement to renovate and upgrade equipment in Nigerian teaching hospitals.
Tegbe emphasised this as an example of the NCSP’s goal of encouraging private-sector collaboration.
Other collaborations formed during the visit include those with China Electronic Corporation in electronics, public security, and identity management; Huawei for ICT sector development, including smart city initiatives; and Loong UAV for drone technology advancements to improve service delivery in remote areas.
The planned smart city initiative with Huawei, which has already been presented to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is expected to improve education, healthcare, communication, security, and government digitalisation.
The drone technology collaboration with Loong UAV has the potential to transform logistics and access to essential goods in underserved areas.
The NCSP statement emphasised the delegation’s overall success, highlighting the commitment to leveraging Chinese investment to drive Nigeria’s socioeconomic transformation in accordance with the country’s Renewed Hope Agenda and China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
The 2.5 million egg-per-day poultry farm is a particularly visible symbol of this growing partnership.
