Salah Focuses On Liverpool Title Charge After Dominant West Ham Win
London, England – Mohamed Salah reaffirmed his commitment to Liverpool’s Premier League title bid following their emphatic 5-0 victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium.
The Egyptian superstar was instrumental in the win, scoring one goal and providing two assists, bringing his season tally to 20 goals and 17 assists.
Liverpool dominated from the outset, with Luis Diaz opening the scoring before Salah orchestrated Gakpo’s goal with a clever piece of play – despite initially being offside – and then netting a goal himself.
Trent Alexander-Arnold added a deflected fourth, and Diogo Jota capped off the rout late in the game.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Salah dismissed any focus on individual accolades, emphasising his sole ambition: “The only thing in my mind…is I want Liverpool to win the league and I just want to be part of that.”
He acknowledged the team’s strong position, eight points clear at the top of the table, but stressed the importance of maintaining focus and humility in the face of competing teams.
While admitting to some disappointment over missed chances, he reiterated his desire to contribute to the team’s success above all else.
The win was a stark contrast to Liverpool’s last visit to the London Stadium, a fact not lost on the players.
Salah recounted the pre-match banter with his teammates, referencing last year’s less-than-pleasant experience.
However, the victory was tempered by an injury to defender Joe Gomez, who was substituted in the 37th minute with a hamstring injury.
Liverpool manager, Arne Slot confirmed the injury, stating that Gomez will be sidelined for a significant period.
“It’s a hamstring and we all know it’s going to take a while before he is back,” Slot told Sky Sports.
With the win, Liverpool extends its lead at the top of the table, and Salah’s laser focus on the title race sets the stage for a thrilling conclusion to the Premier League season.
