Oborevwori Applauds Egbetokun For Officers’ Wives’ Welfare
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has praised the wife of the Inspector-General of Police, Mrs Elizabeth Egbetokun, for her efforts to ensure the long-term welfare of police officers’ families across the country.
Governor Oborevwori made the commendation during an advocacy visit to Government House in Asaba by the wife of the Inspector-General of Police and President of the Police Officers’ Wives’ Association, POWA, Mrs Elizabeth Egbetokun, and her delegation.
He praised Mrs. Egbetokun for her advocacy and encouraged other officer wives to follow in her footsteps.
He stated that Delta State was peaceful throughout the Yuletide season thanks to the efforts of her husband, the IGP, and officers and men from the state command.
He stated: “I am delighted to welcome the wife of the Inspector-General of Police, who also serves as President of the Police Officers’ Wives’ Association, to Delta State this morning.
“First and foremost, I would like to congratulate you and your husband on your appointment as Inspector General of Police. A lot has changed since he arrived.
“I can attest to the peace in my state. This December, we had peace all over the state. As President of the Police Officers’ Wives’ Association, what you have done since your husband became IGP is admirable because you have shown love not only to the wives of police officers, but also to those who served as police officers but are no longer with us.
“You have done an excellent job, and I applaud your advocacy. I would like to encourage you and others in various federal and state offices to follow in your footsteps.
“The love you have shown to the wives of police officers, as well as your efforts to empower them and create jobs and wealth for them, is admirable.
“I would like to express how pleased we are in Delta State with what you are doing. By doing so, you have given them hope, and even police officers will be relieved that for the risk they take in serving and protecting this country in terms of security, their wives and children will be protected if anything happens tomorrow.”
Mrs Egbetokun had previously stated that she was in the state on a familiarisation and advocacy visit, and she praised the Governor for his significant contributions to state governance.
She stated that Delta State holds a special place in the nation because of its significant contributions to the country’s economic development, and she promised to work with the state’s government and people to empower police officers’ wives and families.
