IPOB Accuses Perpetrators Of The Aba Killings Of Being True Enemies Of Biafra
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) condemned the killing of soldiers at a military checkpoint in Aba, Abia State, referring to the perpetrators as “the real enemies of Biafra and Biafrans.”
While demanding a thorough investigation into the crime, IPOB advised soldiers and other security agents to exercise extreme caution and follow acceptable professional engagement guidelines to avoid punishing the innocent for an offence they are unaware of.
Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, IPOB’s Lead Counsel, stated that the organisation has maintained a peaceful stance in its self-determination quest for the Sovereign State of Biafra and thus cannot be held responsible for the attack.
He said, “I unequivocally condemn the unprovoked attack on military personnel at a checkpoint in Aba, Abia State, on May 30, 2024.
“While we pray for the repose of the souls of those who died in this heinous act, carefully perpetrated by the true enemies of Biafra and Biafrans, I urge all hands to be on deck to ensure that those responsible are apprehended.
“Unfortunately, the victims of the planned retaliatory attacks and/or arrests by soldiers will be innocent citizens who know nothing about the incident.
“While we encourage a thorough investigation of this heinous crime, we will also urge Soldiers and other security agents to exercise the utmost restraint and adhere to the acceptable rules of professional engagement to avoid punishing the innocent for an offence they do not know of.
“Furthermore, it is unreasonable to attribute the commission of this heinous act to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), of which I am the Lead Counsel, even before an investigation is conducted. IPOB has maintained a peaceful stance in their self-determination quest for the Sovereign State of Biafra and has consistently distanced itself from the activities of criminals claiming to be freedom fighters who have publicly accepted responsibility for this heinous crime.
“Whatever evil motive drove the actions of the evil souls who committed this evil act has no justification under any circumstances and is completely condemned.
“The long arms of the law must surely catch up with those responsible for such heinous crimes!”
