NDDC To Inaugurate Projects In Niger Delta To Mark Tinubu’s Second Year In Office
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is preparing to launch a number of development projects throughout the Niger Delta region to commemorate President Bola Tinubu’s second year in office, Managing Director Dr. Samuel Ogbuku announced this week.
According to Seledi Thompson-Wakama, Director, Corporate Affairs, NDDC, during the NDDC Quarterly Management Meeting with Staff at the commission’s headquarters, Dr. Ogbuku expressed satisfaction with the agency’s recent performance, particularly in project delivery.
He urged staff to be ready for new challenges as the commission focusses on bringing more people-centered projects to the oil-rich region.
“With your support, the NDDC has received significant awards and commendations locally and internationally, including a commendation from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Dr. Ogbuku said, highlighting the commission’s accomplishments in road construction and solar street light installations as part of the “Light Up the Niger Delta” project.
The NDDC’s director emphasised the commission’s commitment to employee welfare while urging them to prioritise their responsibilities. He assured them that the Board and Management would continue to respond to their needs.
The upcoming inaugurations build upon the NDDC’s ongoing 25th-anniversary celebrations, which have already seen the commissioning of several developmental projects across Delta, Rivers, Abia, Imo, and Bayelsa states. Another round of commissioning is scheduled to begin this month, reinforcing the NDDC’s dedication to regional development.
Dr. Ogbuku urged staff to continue their dedication to the commission’s mission, emphasizing their crucial role in its growth and impact.
Mr. Patrick Ekade, the NDDC Director of Administration and Human Resources, attributed the positive relationship between management and staff to regular engagements.
He commended staff for their professionalism and encouraged continued support for management initiatives, acknowledging the collaborative relationship between the Commission and the staff union.
Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, the meeting featured a raffle draw where two lucky staff members won prizes, including a three-bedroom house, a brand-new car, and various household appliances.
Prior to the meeting, Dr. Ogbuku met with the newly elected executives of the NDDC Staff Union, where he urged them to prioritize the development of the Niger Delta region over personal interests.
