Wike’s FCT Appointment: A Punishment For Rivers, FCT, Says APC Chieftain
PortHarcourt, Nigeria – Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), accused President Bola Tinubu of appointing former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory as a form of punishment for Rivers State and FCT residents in a scathing statement. Eze claims Wike’s appointment is a direct response to voters’ rejection of Tinubu in the 2023 Presidential election.
Eze, a former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party (nPDP), believes Wike’s record of “wickedness, administrative incompetence, general ineptitude, and anti-democratic tendencies” qualifies him for the position.
He goes on to argue that the appointment is part of a plan to “unleash” Wike asous venom” on FCT residents.
His statement comes in response to recent comments made by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, who also serves as Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum. Mohammed stated that the APC appointed Wike because they lacked capable candidates.
Eze strongly disagrees, claiming that the APC has a plethora of credible leaders who could have served as MiMinisters
“To attribute brilliance to that dented, uncultured dimwit and political nuisance known as Wike is an embarrassing misnomer and unfair blunder that should not be spread abroad,” Eze said.
He also accuses Wike of being a “habitual betrayer” and a “political tradesman with zero character” who is intentionally working to destabilise the PDP for personal gain.
He sees Tinubu’s appointment as a strategic move to capitalise on Wike’s “autocratic tendencies” and use him as a “mole” to fuel internal PDP crises.
While Eze agrees with Governor Mohammed’s assessment of Wike as an APC mole, he believes the PDP should take decisive action to counter Wike’s divisive tactics and keep the party united.
This latest development adds to the ongoing political drama surrounding Wike’s appointment, highlighting deep divisions within the APC and PDP.
It remains to be seen how Wike’s tenure as FCT Minister will play out, but the implications for both parties and the country at large are significant.
