Julius Berger Empowers 200 Women In FCT With Critical Tools
Julius Berger Nigeria Plc demonstrated its commitment to community development last Friday by donating essential empowerment tools to 200 women in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Beneficiaries and officials alike celebrated and expressed profound gratitude for the initiative, which is part of the company’s ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.
The event was held at the Cyprian Ekwensi Cultural Centre in Area 10, Garki, Abuja, and brought together representatives from the FCT Administration (FCTA), Julius Berger, and community leaders who all recognised the importance of economic empowerment for women.
Dr. Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi, FCT Mandate Secretary for Women Affairs, praised Julius Berger’s commitment, saying, “I want us to truly appreciate Julius Berger’s corporate entity in Nigeria… They are renowned as Nigeria’s leading engineer and architect of roads and infrastructures, particularly in the Federal Capital Territory.
She emphasised the company’s track record of timely and efficient project delivery, using the renovation of the International Conference Centre as an example.
Mrs. Aina Taiyo Sanni, Director of the Women Development Department, echoed this sentiment, describing the initiative as a “dream come true” and emphasising the importance of a long-term partnership between Julius Berger and the FCT Women Affairs Secretariat.
“We are extremely grateful to Julius Berger, and we hope to continue this partnership because it is something we would not want to lose as a secretariat,” she said.
Mrs. Shakira Mustapha, Julius Berger’s Chief Risk Officer, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to community growth.
“We believe that by empowering a woman, you not only empower her family, but also the community as a whole. We are dedicated to the growth of not only our company, but also of our community and country,” she stated.
She went on to explain that the partnership with the FCT Women Affairs Ministry was a natural fit, motivated by the company’s commitment to women’s economic inclusion.
To commemorate International Women’s Day, the beneficiaries received empowerment tools such as manual and industrial sewing machines, grinding machines, hair dryers and gas cookers.
Beneficiaries such as Mrs. Patricia Amos were overjoyed with the opportunity and expressed heartfelt gratitude. “I am very excited to receive this gift. To be honest, I only have one thing to say to Julius Berger: thank you very much. Even as they have done this, we pray for more opportunities for them,” she stated.
Another recipient expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Julius Berger for this wonderful gift. May you keep going higher and higher.
The event cemented Julius Berger’s reputation as a company dedicated not only to infrastructure development, but also to community empowerment and livelihood improvement in Nigeria.
