Katsina Launches Batch B Watch Corps Recruitments, Approves N12.5bn For Medical Equipment
The Katsina State Government has announced the recruitment of a second batch of Community Watch Corps personnel, with a budget of N1.5 billion.
Aside from recruitment and training, the funds will be used to provide the new hires with the operational tools they require to carry out their duties effectively.
Dr Nasiru Mu’azu Danmusa, the state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, told reporters on Thursday that the decision was made at the 9th regular council meeting, presided over by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
According to Danmusa, the council unanimously approved the recruitment of a second batch of community watch corps members to supplement the current batch in eight local governments throughout the state.
According to him, the decision was influenced by the first batch’s success in reducing insecurity levels by more than 30% in banditry-prone regions.
He stated that the second batch will concentrate on ten local government areas, namely Dutsinma, Kurfi, Charanchi, Musawa, Matazu, Malumfashi, Danja, Kafur, Bakori, and Funtua.
Similarly, the council approved N12,537,388,500 to supply and install cutting-edge medical imaging equipment at General Amadi Rimi Specialist Hospital’s Imaging Centre.
The investment will provide the centre with ten cutting-edge diagnostic tools, such as an MRI 3.0 City scanner, mammography, and nuclear imaging machines.
Hon Musa Adamu Funtua, the state Commissioner of Health, was represented by Ahmed Tijani, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, who explained the significance of the investment, stating that the equipment will be among the first of its kind in West Africa, providing world-class diagnostic services to Katsina State residents and others.
According to him, the MRI 3.0 machine is one of the world’s most advanced imaging technologies, allowing doctors to accurately diagnose a wide range of medical conditions.
“The equipment will not only improve diagnostic capabilities in the state but will also contribute to the overall development of healthcare infrastructure, which is consistent with Governor Radda’s “building your future” agenda.
