Be Committed To Tinubu’s Success, APC Chieftain Appeals To Governors
Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, has addressed the 36 state governors.
To demonstrate greater commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s determination to end the country’s economic hardship.
Oyintiloye declared that governors’ sincere commitment to the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, regardless of political affiliation, would put the country on track for economic prosperity.
The APC chieftain made the remarks while speaking with reporters in Osogbo on Sunday. He stated that after critically examining various interventions by the federal government channelled through states since the removal of fuel subsidies, it is clear that some governors must do more to assist the president in meeting Nigerians’ expectations.
The former lawmaker stated that governors should demonstrate greater commitment to the welfare of the masses by working to ensure the success of interventions rather than being accused of laziness.
He believes that the federal government’s financial interventions to states to alleviate poverty have not improved the overall well-being of the population.
Oyintiloye, a member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council, later stated that without the governors’ sincere support, the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the People may be difficult to implement.
“If some governors sincerely support the president in delivering good governance, the recent hunger strike could have been avoided.
Concerned about allegations of diversion or repackaging of rice and grains sent to states, Oyintiloye emphasised the importance of governors supporting the president in reducing poverty.
“Although some governors are doing their best to support the presidents, they are being accused of not doing enough.
“The entire burden cannot be placed solely on the president; the governor’s sincerity is critical, particularly in reducing wasteful spending and corrupt behaviour.
“This is not the time for buck-passing. Masses are at the mercy of our leaders. They are the ones we can see clearly. The President is clearly doing a lot to alleviate suffering, but can the same be said of the governors?
Oyintiloye stated that while the president’s various unavoidable policies to restructure the economy may cause pain at the moment, the overall benefits will be a great blessing to the masses.
He stated that the recent hunger strike, which resulted in looting, killing, and property destruction, was not a viable solution to the country’s problems.
Oyintiloye, on the other hand, urged Nigerians to give the president more time to fulfil his electoral promises, claiming that 12 months was insufficient to reverse years of economic decay in the country.
