Bobrisky Breathes The Air Of Freedom, Released From Prison
Nigerian controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, has been released from prison.
He was released this morning from the Kirikiri Correctional Centre, where he had been held for the past six months.
According to THE NEWSHAUS, the crossdresser was jailed on April 12, 2024, for spraying the national currency, the Naira, at social gatherings, which is against Nigerian law.
As of today, Bobrisky has been released from prison, as evidenced by a video on X that also featured Nigerian actress Eniola Ajao.
“I have missed you all so much. Bobrisky said, “I can not wait to see you guys and give you what you have been missing.”
According to THE NEWSHAUS, Bobrisky was sentenced to six months in prison by the Federal High Court in Lagos after being charged with six counts by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The court ruled that Bobrisky abused the naira by spraying N400,000 at Imax Circle Mall in Lagos on March 24, 2024.
He was also accused of tampering with N50,000.00 between July and August 2023 at a social event in Aja Junction, Korodu.
In December 2023, he allegedly tampered with N20,000.00 by spraying Naira notes at White Steve Event Hall in Ikeja during a social event.
The court determined that the dress-crosser tampered with N20,000.00 (Twenty Thousand Naira) while dancing at a social event in 2022 at Event Hall, Oniru, Victory Island.
The court ruled that Bobrisky’s actions violated and were punishable under Section 21(1) of the Central Bank Act of 2007.
Two of the charges were later dropped after he pleaded guilty to naira abuse and asked for mercy as a first-time offender.
The news of his release was announced this morning.
