Obi Congratulates Super Eagles, Urges Focus On World Cup Qualifier
Following Nigeria’s crucial victory against Rwanda in their World Cup qualifier, Labour Party Presidential candidate Peter Obi took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to congratulate the Super Eagles and rally support for their upcoming match against South Africa.
“Congratulations to our dear Super Eagles on their crucial victory against Rwanda today,” Obi tweeted. “Watching the game, I noted your commitment that should be sustained going forward.”
With the pivotal game against South Africa looming on Tuesday, Obi emphasised the importance of maintaining momentum.
“As you prepare to face South Africa on Tuesday in another very vital World Cup qualifier, Nigerians look forward to your continuous momentum.”
Obi went on to highlight the significance of World Cup qualification for the nation.
“Nigeria playing in the World Cup final as one of Africa’s representatives should be sacred and Tuesday’s encounter will define it. We are confident that with this strength, Nigeria can make it to the World Cup.”
He concluded his message with a resounding, “Congratulations and good luck.”
Beyond football, Obi also used his platform to extend warm greetings to the Muslim community in Nigeria on the occasion of Maulud Nabiyy, the celebration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday.
“On this joyous occasion of Maulud Nabiyy, I warmly extend my heartfelt felicitations to our Muslim brothers and sisters and the Muslim community across Nigeria,” Obi stated.
He highlighted the core values associated with the Prophet Muhammad’s teachings, including peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion, emphasising their importance in fostering a united and progressive Nigeria.
“As we celebrate Maulud Nabiyy, let us reflect on the Prophet’s virtues and strive to emulate them in our daily lives,” Obi urged.
“May this occasion inspire us to promote peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, and selfless service to humanity.”
He ended his Maulud Nabiyy message with a call for national unity and prayer. “I urge all Nigerians, regardless of their faith, to join hands in praying for the peace, security, and stability of our country.
“Let us work together towards a brighter future for Nigeria, where everyone can thrive and reach their full potential.”
Obi’s dual messages of support for the Super Eagles and well wishes to the Muslim community showcase his commitment to national pride and religious harmony, resonating with a wide spectrum of the Nigerian populace.
The nation awaits the outcome of Tuesday’s crucial World Cup qualifier with bated breath.
