Bobrisky Apprehended At Seme Border, Undergoes Interrogation
Lagos, THE NEWSHAUS – Popular Nigerian crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, better known as Bobrisky, has been apprehended by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) while attempting to cross the border into the Republic of Benin.
The incident occurred at the Seme Border, a major crossing point between Nigeria and Benin, and was confirmed in a statement released by the NIS Public Relations Officer, Kenneth Udo, on Monday.
Udo stated that Bobrisky’s interception was part of the NIS’s ongoing efforts to secure the country’s borders.
He further explained that Bobrisky is currently a “person of interest” due to recent public concerns surrounding his activities.
“The Service wishes to inform the public that Okuneye Idris is a person of interest over recent issues of public concern,” Udo stated.
“He is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate Authorities for further action.”
The NIS’s statement did not elaborate on the specific “issues of public concern” that prompted Bobrisky’s detention.
However, it is understood that the Service’s action is likely linked to the recent controversy surrounding the crossdresser’s public image and activities.
The news of Bobrisky’s apprehension has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many expressing shock and confusion.
Some have accused the NIS of targeting Bobrisky for his gender identity, while others have defended the Service’s action, citing concerns about national security and potential legal violations.
The NIS has assured the public that it will continue to operate professionally and with due diligence in fulfilling its statutory responsibility of securing the country’s borders.
The incident remains under investigation, and the NIS has not yet made any further statements regarding Bobrisky’s future actions.
