Kuje Prison Inmates: Lady Drug Supplier Apprehended
The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) apprehended Precious Yusuf after she attempted to smuggle psychoactive drugs into the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Kuje.
A statement on Wednesday by the Public Relations Officer, FCT Command of NCoS,
Adamu Duza, a Deputy Superintendent of Corrections, stated that the incident occurred on Tuesday when the aforementioned lady appeared as a visitor to one of the inmates.
He added that during the usual routine search by personnel on duty, items suspected to be cannabis sativa as well as other psychoactive substances were concealed in food packs which were to be handed over to the inmate.
He disclosed that the Controller of Corrections, FCT Command, Ibrahim Usman, has since ordered that the suspect be handed over to the appropriate security agency for further investigation and prosecution.
He said, “The Controller hereby warns visitors with such intentions to reconsider because their machinations will undoubtedly be discovered by his eagle-eyed personnel.
“He called on the general public and well-meaning Nigerians to support the Nigerian Correctional Service’s efforts to reform and rehabilitate offenders in order to promote public safety.”
