Quest For New Nigeria Has Been Truncated By Presidential Tribunal—Imeobi Igbo
By Chuks Eke
Imeobi Igbo Forum, a socio-political organisation, has described yesterday’s Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, PEPT decision as an ugly phenomenon aimed at shortening the journey for a better Nigeria.
Dr. Mike Ikegulu, National President of the group, indicated on the phone shortly after the ruling that he expected such a technical pronunciation from the tribunal since they believed Heavens would not fall.
“I knew it would go that way the moment the tribunal members went technical,” Dr. Ikegulu said. It is regrettable that the tribunal asked INEC to present the BIVAS in the outset, but INEC disobeyed them, and yet during their judgment, they made no reference of it, much alone assign any guilt to INEC.”
“That is why I said the tribunal went into technical session because all of the UN observers’ reports, all of Nigerians’ complaints, all of INEC’s falsifications and technical glitches did not matter to the tribunal.”
“I am not even advising the petitioners to waste their time going to the Supreme Court because it will be an exercise in futility because Nigeria’s democracy has been mesmerised.”
