Africa Mundus Caribbean Continuum Leader Praises Burkina Faso’s Traore
* Calls For Media Accountability On African Issues
Mrs. Pamela Gordon Carty, leader of the Africa Mundus Caribbean Continuum, has issued a strong statement in support of Burkina Faso’s leader, Ibrahim Traore, praising his resistance to what she called the “devaluation of Africa by Western powers.”
Mrs. Gordon Carty’s statement, released to reporters in Benin, expresses her admiration for Traore’s commitment to African self-reliance and unwavering faith in the Black race.
“Ibrahim Traore’s insistence, beliefs, and promotion of Africa and the black race must be commended,” Mrs. Gordon Carty said, emphasising the significance of his leadership amid global challenges.
Mrs. Gordon Carty also condemned the spread of misinformation about Africa and its diaspora, calling for greater media accountability and transparency when reporting on the continent and its people. She urged media outlets to be accurate and fair in their portrayals.
“For decades, the African diaspora has faced toxic behaviour and discrimination, which must end,” she declared, calling for a fundamental shift in global perceptions and educational curricula.
She emphasised the importance of acknowledging and celebrating the African diaspora’s significant, but often overlooked, contributions throughout history.
Mrs. Gordon Carty stated that the Africa Mundus Caribbean Continuum, along with the Simply Masters Foundation, stands in solidarity with African leaders who advocate for the rights and dignity of the Black diaspora.
She urged global leaders to work together to create a more just and equitable world for future generations.
Mrs. Gordon Carty, Sint Maarten’s former Minister of Health, Social Development, and Labour, highlighted her own record of public service.
She specifically mentioned the Mandatory Youth-Hiring Quota Policy and important amendments aimed at strengthening laws against child sexual abuse.
These accomplishments, she stated, demonstrate her unwavering dedication to human dignity and ethical behaviour, which continue to inform her work with the Africa Mundus Caribbean Continuum.
