NDDC Warns Public About Postgraduate Scholarship Scam
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has issued a public warning about a widespread fraudulent scheme that targets Postgraduate Foreign Scholarship Programme applicants.
In a press statement issued today, Seledi Thompson-Wakama, Director of Corporate Affairs, warned the public about fake emails and messages circulating that claimed to be from the NDDC’s “Board Registry.”
These fraudulent communications, which frequently come from the email address nddcregistry@gmail.com, invite unsuspecting applicants to a fictitious document verification and authentication exercise scheduled for May 19th-21st, 2025, at 30 Bishop Oluwole Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Thompson-Wakama stated unequivocally that the NDDC is not associated with this scam. “We want to emphasise that the NDDC is not involved in this fraudulent selection process and exercise,” she said.
“All official communications regarding the scholarship programme will only be made through the official NDDC portal (www.scholarship.nddc.gov.ng).”
The press release strongly advised applicants to ignore any unsolicited messages requesting money, an invitation, sensitive information, or scholarship placement outside of the official NDDC processes.
Individuals who receive such suspicious communications are encouraged to report them to the appropriate authorities immediately. “Your safety and privacy are our top priority,” Thompson-Wakama emphasised.
The NDDC encourages those with legitimate questions about the scholarship program to contact them via official channels, which can be found on the official NDDC website: [www.nddc.gov.ng].
Beneficiaries of NDDC programmes are also encouraged to use the official website to verify facts and avoid misinformation.
The NDDC is dedicated to ensuring the transparency and integrity of its scholarship program and cautions the public against fraudulent activities.
