NEDC Empowers North East Youths With Briquette-Making Machines

Maiduguri, Nigeria – The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has significantly increased youth empowerment in the region by distributing briquette-making machines to newly trained young entrepreneurs.

Managing Director Mohammed Alkali oversaw the presentation ceremony, which took place at the NEDC headquarters in Maiduguri.

Alkali emphasised the commission’s commitment to providing young people with practical skills and resources to promote self-sufficiency and regional economic development.

The beneficiaries, who recently completed comprehensive briquette production training provided by the NEDC, now have the tools to turn their new skills into sustainable livelihoods.

The provided machines convert waste biomass into high-quality briquettes, providing a cleaner and more efficient alternative to traditional fossil fuels.

This initiative supports global sustainability goals by promoting renewable energy and lowering carbon emissions.

Beyond the environmental benefits, the project is expected to boost the local economy.

The increased availability of locally produced briquettes is expected to open up new markets, reduce reliance on costly and polluting fuels, and encourage entrepreneurship among trained youths.
