Obi Concludes North America Tour, Urges Diaspora To ‘Hold On To The Vision Of New Nigeria
Atlanta, Georgia – Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 Nigerian election and former governor of Anambra state, concluded his North America “Thank You Tour” with an open forum for the Nigerian diaspora in Atlanta, Georgia.
The event was also attended by several Georgia State Legislators.
During his address, Obi emphasised his vision for a “New Nigeria,” a nation characterized by strong institutions, the rule of law, and equal opportunity for all citizens.
He reiterated his commitment to building a meritocratic society where poverty is eradicated and individuals are empowered to reach their full potential regardless of their background.
“I envision a Nigeria built on merit, where individuals are lifted from poverty, regardless of their background,” Obi stated.
“We must hold on to this vision of a New Nigeria – a nation where institutions work, the rule of law prevails, and every citizen has an equal opportunity to thrive.”
The tour, which spanned several cities across North America, served as a platform for Obi to engage with the Nigerian diaspora and express his gratitude for their unwavering support.
He acknowledged the vital contributions they make to sustaining Nigeria, both financially and through advocacy.
“With the conclusion of this North America tour, I express my heartfelt gratitude to all Nigerian diaspora throughout North America for their contribution to sustaining Nigeria today in one way or another and urge that you do not relent,” he said.
Obi concluded his remarks with a call for unity and collective action, stating that “Our collective efforts will bring about a new Nigeria that is POssible.”
The event in Atlanta saw a large turnout of enthusiastic supporters, eager to engage with Obi and learn more about his plans for the future of Nigeria.
Many expressed their hope for a new leadership that could address the country’s pressing challenges and deliver on the promise of a brighter future.
The tour served as a powerful reminder of the importance of the diaspora’s role in shaping Nigeria’s future.
