G-14 Rejects Suswam’s Claim Of Disbandment, Stresses Unity Amidst PDP Crisis In Benue
Makurdi, Benue State – Dr. Laha Dzever, Chairman of the G-14, a group of prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders in Benue State, has strongly refuted Senator Gabriel Suswam’s claims that the G-14 has disbanded.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Dzever stated that the group is still intact and that Suswam’s actions have no legal basis.
“G-14 is not owned by any individual and cannot be disbanded,” Dzever said, adding that Suswam, as a member, can only resign if he wishes.
He traced the group’s origins back to the aftermath of the 2015 elections, when the PDP experienced internal turmoil, emphasising its role in reviving the party and returning it to power in 2019.
Dzever also addressed the group’s leadership structure, confirming that the current PDP leader in Benue State, Chief Samuel Ortom, serves as co-chairman.
He emphasised that Ortom’s leadership, as well as the party’s College of Leaders, have provided critical support during the current internal crisis within the PDP.
Dzever acknowledged the party’s challenges and expressed hope that the G-14 will continue to foster unity and reconciliation within the PDP, ensuring that the party remains a strong force in Benue State.
He called for a de-escalation of tensions and urged party members to prioritise the party’s interests over their own.
The G-14’s statement comes at a time of internal conflict within the PDP, with disagreements between various factions causing tensions and accusations.
The group’s affirmation of its continued existence, as well as its commitment to unity and reconciliation, is regarded as a significant development in this context.
