Ajuri Ngelale Explains Real Reasons He Stepped Down As Tinubu’s Spokesperson
Ajuri Ngelale, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, has resigned, effective immediately.
Ngelale informed President Femi Gbajabiamila of his intention to take indefinite leave through a memo to the Chief of Staff.
This was stated in a statement issued by the Presidency on Saturday, with Ngelale stating that he stepped down from his position to deal with medical issues affecting his immediate family.
Until the most recent development, Ajuri Ngelale was the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Official Spokesperson of the President, Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen.
“On Friday, I submitted a memo to the Chief of Staff to the President informing my office that I am proceeding on an indefinite leave of absence to deal with medical matters presently affecting my immediate nuclear family,” he stated in his resignation letter.
“While I fully understand that the ship of state waits for no man, this agonising decision — entails a pause of my functions as the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity and Official Spokesperson of the President, Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, and Chairman, Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen — was taken after significant consultations with my family over the past several days as a vexatious medical situation has worsened”.
