NFF Finally Announces Appointment Of Labbadia, New Super Eagles Coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has named German tactician Bruno Labbadia as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.

Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, the NFF’s General Secretary, confirmed the appointment early Tuesday morning.

“The NFF Executive Committee approved the Technical and Development Sub-Committee’s recommendation to appoint Mr. Bruno Labbadia as the Super Eagles’ Head Coach. “The appointment is effective immediately,” he said.

Labbadia, born on February 8, 1966, in Darmstadt, Germany, won two caps for Germany during his playing career and has coached several top-tier clubs, including Hertha Berlin and VfB Stuttgart. He has a UEFA Pro License and is the sixth German to lead the Super Eagles.

The new coach faces an immediate challenge, with two critical 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic and Rwanda in September. He will also oversee four more matches in October and November to wrap up the qualifying campaign.
