Soludo’s Hasty Plans To Conduct LG Polls Covert Move To Win Second Term, Says ADC
By Chuks Eke *
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s appointment of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) to conduct unprepared local Council polls on September 28, which contradicts the National Assembly’s move to reclaim power from the state within three months.
Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu, National Chairman of ADC, condemned the haste during a news conference in Awka, Anambra state capital. Nwosu speculated that the haste may be linked to Soludo’s masterful agenda to complete the election before the federal legislature’s final resolution, arguing that the state’s Council Chairmen and Councillors in the 21 Local Government Areas came into existence before the effective.
Nwosu described the move as an act of desperation to seize power at any cost, adding that Soludo also intends to use the council elections to advance his bid for a second term in 2025.
He urged Ndi Anambra to be mindful of Soludo’s antics and to take the necessary action at the appropriate time by properly assessing his first tenure stewardship before deciding whether or not to run for a second term.
