Chivido2024: Why Chioma Won
By Ify Aronu-Okafor*
It is not because she is Angel Chi, who never takes offence.
It is not because she enjoys being disrespected or “numbered,” as May Edochie puts it.
Chioma finally goes to the altar with her long-term partner, not because she is the strongest woman in the world.
You will be shocked to learn why she is the last woman standing.
Let us discover it together.
Most married women in this part of the world are aware that their husbands are unfaithful, but they rarely complain for peace to reign. They lock up because they are concerned about the children and the shame that discussing the matter may cause. However, this only increases the man’s audacity and brashness.
Because their indiscretions are tolerated, unfaithful Nigerian men who have no shame quickly begin to justify marrying the side chick. The wife then begins to protest, but it is usually too late. I believe wives can do better in this regard, but I will leave that topic for another time.
In contrast, a relationship is not the same as a marriage. That has been the case with Omo Baba Oluwo and his chef for years. Many people use relationships to ‘test the waters’ before making a big commitment. But for our superstar Davido, it was not just tasting; he was eating the entire meal and extra plates simply because he could, despite having multiple baby mamas and palpable controversy on his trail.
His vulnerability to women was not news. Chioma understood this and became pregnant for him. If he was conducting a real-life fertility test, she did not want to be found wanting. Associating with him also improved her business. He gave her widespread exposure, making her a household name. These are enormous benefits.
Now let us look at the main reasons she stayed.
There is a reason Chioma always appeared unconcerned after he hurt her. Davido should be allowed to teach double- or triple-dating at some point. It is worth investigating how he kept Chioma from being openly upset.
What was he saying or doing with her?
Whatever it was, the assurance was more powerful than we will ever know.
Many people believe it was the money, but I believe it was more important that he made a strong commitment to her and followed through on that promise. Something that made his sexual indiscretions more manageable. Something that assured Chioma that she could keep his heart forever, no matter what.
I used to believe that a man being with another woman was an unforgivable offence. However, life has taught me that while the body may be in different places at different times, the heart remains in the same place always. Even death does not completely change that.
It is not really about the numbers.
Sister, where is your man’s heart?
Chioma had an advantage over the others because, despite his indiscretions, David gave her his heart. She realised that his heart was all he had to offer, not his body.
Chi triumphed when she realised she owned David’s heart. However, this did not occur by chance. David must have demonstrated this to her in far more meaningful ways than money can. Money was a factor, but not the major index, I believe.
The woman who holds a man’s heart is the one he completely adores. He goes all out for her, leaving nothing to be desired. He does things for her that he would never do for someone else. Seeing his devotion, she is unable to abandon him, even when he fails the test of faithfulness.
But what do you see around us?
Broke brothers of Yul Edochie.
Nasty access.
Proponents of patriarchy amid poverty.
Village men with no exposure.
You refuse to provide common care.
Support, for where?
Money. Bawo?
You are deceiving yourself by claiming odogwụ when you do not even have shishi. Before Flavour’s recent clarification with “nwunye odogwụ,” there was a lot of confusion.
Holiday abroad want? Never!
You can not even afford a weekend hideaway (or getaway) at the cheapest and nearest hotel to your village neighbourhood.
But every minute you are declaring “odogwụ”, boasting/bragging, shouting and threatening her for no reason, and even getting physical.
You have nothing to offer, but you have the guts to be a proud and unrepentant cheater.
And somebody’s daughter is crying for you???
TAA, GBAFUO!
