Rivers Crisis: PDP Mocks APC, Urges Okocha To Quit Fantasising About Taking Over Rivers State
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has advised the All Progressives Congress (APC) to stop fantasising about taking over Rivers.
The party also informed the APC that its plot to cause a crisis in the state had failed and that nothing could change the will of the people of Rivers State, as expressed in the governorship election that resulted in Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been drawn to yet another hallucinating press conference by the Rivers State Caretaker Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tony Okocha, in which he again fantasised that the WILL of the people of Rivers State as expressed in the go
“This reckless outburst by Tony Okocha exposes the sinister plot of the APC in Rivers State, which has been seeking ways to instigate crisis, forcefully overthrow a democratic order, and impose an anti-democratic regime in Rivers State in clear violation of Section 1 sub-section 2 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Constitution, 1999 (as amended).
“Mr. Okocha’s use of the word ‘war’ in his thoughtless statement demonstrates an evil intention, which the people of Rivers State have firmly opposed and will continue to oppose.
“The APC in Rivers State should be aware that its malevolent scheme to instigate a crisis and forcefully take over the state has failed. Rivers State is a stronghold of the PDP, and the people strongly support the PDP government in the state.
The PDP, on the other hand, has urged the Federal Government, as well as the APC’s national leadership, to rein in and caution Mr. Tony Okocha to stop being a destabilising agent and a threat to Nigerian democracy.
“Our Party demands that the Inspector General of Police summon the Rivers State APC Caretaker Chairman immediately and hold him personally liable for his statements, which pose a clear and present threat to the survival of democracy in Nigeria as well as peace and tranquillity in Rivers State.
“The international community should also take note of this individual’s reckless outburst, whose actions and utterances have the potential to undermine the country’s overall security,” the party stated.
For the umpteenth time, the PDP warned the APC to abandon the idea of taking over Rivers State by force, as its attempts to undermine the people’s WILL will always fail.
The party urged Rivers State residents to remain calm and work in solidarity with the PDP administration to ensure that democracy dividends are delivered in the state.
