You’re Sore Losers, APC Rivers Tell Atiku’s Men, PDP
Chief Tony Okocha, Caretaker Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, has described Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s administration as clueless and rudderless, claiming that Rivers State’s political crisis is self-inflicted.
Otherwise, he wondered why an entirely Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) controlled House of Assembly would want to defect to the opposition All Progressives Congress, to the point where 27 of the 32-man House have signed on with the APC.
Reacting to a recent news report in which PDP stakeholders in the state led by Abiye Sekibo blamed the crisis in the state on the door post of former governor of the state and Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, the APC under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Okocha said the failure of the PDP predated the 2023 presidential election.
Describing the PDP and its presidential candidate as sore losers, Okocha claimed that Atiku’s men are attempting to pull the wool over Nigerians’ eyes in a lame attempt to absolve themselves of blame for the crisis rocking the PDP in Rivers.
“Our initial thought was to ignore the cul de sac machinated by the defeated and conquered politicians, who led the failed onslaught to lie barefacedly to Nigerians about Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s self-inflicted political fisticuffs in Rivers State.
“But we feared that allowing their lies to fester would distort the true records. As a result, we decided to issue an immediate response as counterexamples to the blatant lies they peddled and canvassed.
“The second reason why we would have chosen to discard the entire puerile text is that the presenters clearly introduced themselves as unrepentant leaders of Atiku’s 2023 Presidential Campaign in Rivers State and thus forayed into their intra-party squabbles.
“The undeniable fact is that all of those who lined up at that table and signed the text in question are still staunch supporters of HE Atiku Abubakar.
(Please look at the flex banner behind the table where they sat to see the picture/name of HE, Atiku Abubakar. It was deliberate.
Okocha stated that the PDP and its candidate’s complete failure in the presidential election is why the party will “never forgive President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, HE E.N.Wike, and APC Rivers for the sin of their woeful electoral defeat.”
“Of course, it follows that anyone whose action or inaction contributes to their dangerous fall is unintentionally their sworn adversary—no wonder they secretly aim to cut out a pound of flesh from the Honourable Minister.
His Excellency, Chief Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, says, “What a cul-de-sac.”
Okocha further blamed the PDP for the
“the obscene and absurd denigration of Asiwaju in the media,” accusing them of masterminding “the devilish narratives that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was frail and unhealthy.”Mentally and senile, he defecates on himself and therefore wears diapers.”Very old and incapable of presiding over Nigeria.”
Rather than wasting time chasing shadows, Okocha challenged the governor to put on his thinking cap and put to good use the 28 billion that the state receives monthly from federal allocation, in addition to over 20 billion in IGR.
He also challenged him to carry out the remaining terms of the agreement reached with President Tinubu in Abuja and move quickly to hold the Rivers local government election to test his popularity.
Okocha warned that failing to present the state budget to a properly constituted Rivers State Assembly does not board well with governance in the state, noting that the state is stagnant and inactive.
I reiterate that the political crisis in Rivers State is self-inflicted. The Governor of Rivers State and the 32 Assembly members were from the same party and family, with Wike as their father.
Why did 27 Assembly members in Rivers State vote for the opposition party, APC?..
“The crisis is about the Governor’s blatant inactivity, cluelessness, and rudderlessness, as well as the legislators’ penchant for whipping him into line using the principles of separation of powers and checks and balances.
“Rivers State is more than just a pariah state; it is deteriorating into abysmal oblivion.
How does it affect the Honourable Minister of the FCT serving under our beloved APC-led Federal Government, who has long vacated the rostrum of power in Rivers State Government House? he asked.
