Government Initiatives Earn Praise For Addressing Unemployment, Education
Two new Federal Government initiatives, the Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP) and the Lumina Programme, have garnered widespread commendation from stakeholder groups.
The Tinubu Stakeholders Forum (TSF) and the Democratic Front (TDF) have both issued statements praising the programs and urging collaboration for their success.
The Tinubu Stakeholders Forum (TSF) has lauded the official launch of the Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP), an ambitious initiative aiming to generate 2.5 million jobs within two years.
Unveiled recently by Vice President Kashim Shettima, LEEP is designed as a critical social intervention providing sustainable employment opportunities and preparing young Nigerians for future workspaces through vocational training and re-skilling.
In its statement, the TSF described LEEP as further evidence of the President Bola Tinubu administration’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“LEEP stands out not only as a bold response to youth unemployment but also as a policy framework that strengthens the capacity of the private sector to absorb and retain skilled talent,” the statement read.
The TSF highlighted the program’s comprehensive approach. “By investing in up-skilling and vocational empowerment, the administration is addressing both the supply and demand sides of the labour market — equipping citizens with relevant skills while energizing the private sector with a more competent and prepared workforce.”
The group expressed enthusiasm for the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha’s, assertion that LEEP will expand access to sustainable employment and enhance productivity through skills development.
The TSF urged Nigerian youths to fully leverage the opportunities offered by LEEP and called on all stakeholders, particularly those in the private sector, to contribute to building a workforce that drives national growth.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Front (TDF) has welcomed the launch of the Lumina Programme, a new federal government initiative designed to tackle the crisis of out-of-school children.
