U-VOL Foundation Lauded For Boosting Maternal Healthcare In Nigeria
The U-VOL Foundation, a US-based international healthcare non-profit, has received high praise for its significant contributions to maternal healthcare in Nigeria.
Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), praised the organisation for its recent and successful maternal health training program at St. Charles Hospital and Maternity in Adoka, Benue State.
The commendation, announced in a statement Thursday, emphasised the completion of U-VOL’s second maternal health training session.
Dabiri-Erewa praised the foundation for consistently improving healthcare delivery, claiming that their efforts fully justified the National Diaspora Merit Award they received in July 2024. She urged the foundation to continue its vital work.
The two-day intensive program prepared 19 healthcare providers, including nurses, midwives, public health physicians, and community health workers.
Participants were trained in life-saving techniques, including neonatal and maternal resuscitation, pre-eclampsia and eclampsia management, complex birth complications, family planning, dealing with obstetric emergencies, emergency Caesarean sections, and infection control.
The training was led by an experienced medical team from the Federal University of Health Sciences Otukpo (FUHSO) and the U-VOL Foundation itself.
In addition to the training, the U-VOL Foundation provided 19 Direct Relief midwife kits, each with 61 essential items to support 50 safe facility-based births.
Mrs. Faith Adole, Founder and CEO of U-VOL Foundation, emphasised the organization’s dedication to developing long-term solutions that benefit the local workforce.
She emphasised that the program is only the start of a larger effort to improve maternal health in Nigeria through ongoing training and collaboration with local institutions and the Nigerian government.
The U-VOL Foundation, founded in 2015, operates in five African countries and the United States, focussing on medical relief, health education, women’s empowerment, and clean water initiatives.
Its ValueHer initiative focuses on improving maternal and neonatal health outcomes by providing healthcare workers with necessary skills and resources.
Since 2016, the organisation has served Benue State by carrying out various primary care health relief missions and programs. U-VOL Foundation’s ongoing efforts aim to have a long-term impact on maternal health in Nigeria.
