Governor Zulum Equips Security Forces With Vehicles, Motorcycles, Housing In Fight Against Crime

Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has significantly increased the operational capacity of security agencies in the state by distributing 110 brand new vehicles, 500 motorcycles, and 280 houses.

The initiative, launched by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, aims to strengthen the ongoing fight against crime and insecurity in the North East region.

High-ranking security officials attended the distribution ceremony at Maiduguri’s Government House, including the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Waidi Shuaibu, and several Deputy and Assistant Inspectors-General of Police.

The allocation consists of 60 vehicles for the Nigerian Police Force, 50 vehicles, and 500 motorcycles for the Nigerian military.

The Police Force will also receive 220 houses at Mai Mala Buni Estate, 20 at Kashim Shertima Estate, and 40 at Wulari, all of which are in Maiduguri.

In his address, Governor Zulum emphasised the importance of providing security forces with the tools they need to improve their efficiency and dedication.

He emphasised the state government’s unwavering commitment to strengthening Borno’s security architecture and described the donation as a “modest gesture” to demonstrate their ongoing support.

He stated that the new assets would speed up response times and operational capabilities in combating insecurity and social vices.

The Governor praised President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and support for national security agencies.

He reiterated the Borno State Government’s commitment to maintaining a strong relationship with security forces, emphasising their importance in the state’s recovery and development.

Zulum emphasised that investing in their capabilities ensures the safety and prosperity of the people of Borno State.

IGP Egbetokun expressed deep gratitude to Governor Zulum for his “massive support,” describing him as a “performing governor” in the fight against insecurity.

He promised that the new assets would be deployed immediately to improve security and service delivery throughout the state.
