US Man Credits Peter Obi’s Hospital For Saving His Life
A US-based businessman, Chief Sabi Nweke, has publicly thanked former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi for building the Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital in Awka, crediting the facility with saving his life.
According to a press release issued by the Peter Obi Media Office (POMR) spokesman Ibrahim Umar, Nweke was treated for diverticulitis at the hospital during a recent Christmas visit to Nigeria.
Nweke stated that he received treatment at Amaku Hospital from December 15th to 30th, 2024, and believes he would not have survived without the availability of the teaching hospital.
He described the hospital as crucial to his survival and praised Obi’s foresight in prioritizing its construction.
Nweke even sent a personal message of appreciation to Obi, urging him to continue his good works.
Obi, the Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate, responded to Nweke’s statement, highlighting the hospital’s rapid construction – completed within two years – as a necessary intervention to prevent the closure of the state’s medical school due to a lack of accreditation from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
He emphasised the project’s significance in enabling the graduation of the first set of medical doctors from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu University Medical School and underscored its contribution to healthcare services, medical education, and economic empowerment within the state.
Obi reiterated his commitment to development focused on improving the Human Development Index through investments in education, healthcare, and poverty reduction.
The incident serves as a powerful testament to the enduring legacy of Obi’s governorship, showcasing the long-term impact of infrastructure development on the lives of ordinary citizens.
Nweke’s story provides a compelling human interest element to Obi’s record of achievements as governor. Contact information for Chief Sabi Nweke has been provided as vincentnweke5453@gmail.com.
