Peter Obi Extends Ramadan Greetings, Calls For Unity, Prayers For Nigeria
Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate for 2023, Peter Obi, has extended Ramadan greetings to Nigerian Muslims through his X (formerly Twitter) handle.
In a post commemorating the start of the Holy Month, Mr. Obi urged Muslims to embody the spirit of Ramadan through devotion, brotherly love, and fasting.
Obi’s message emphasized the importance of using this time to pray, focusing on national unity, improved leadership that prioritizes citizens’ well-being, and relief from insecurity and economic hardship.
He specifically called for increased charity and almsgiving, particularly towards the vulnerable, in accordance with Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) teachings.
“The current economic challenges require us to support one another, especially during this holy month,” Obi said, acknowledging the difficulties many Nigerians face.
The post concluded with a wish for a blessed and fruitful Ramadan for all, accompanied by a prayer for divine acceptance and blessings.
The message was signed “-PO,” Obi’s commonly used social media signature.
Obi’s message, released amidst his ongoing nationwide engagements, is seen as a gesture of goodwill and unity across religious divides during a challenging time for the nation.
His call for prayer and increased social support underscores the importance of collective effort in addressing Nigeria’s current economic and security concerns.
