Awka, Anambra State – Just days before the All Progressives Congress (APC) Anambra State gubernatorial primaries on March 29th, the Ikemba Front, a prominent pressure group within the party, has vehemently denied endorsing any candidates.

This follows a contentious announcement by some expelled members who allegedly supported Chief Paul Chukwuma.

The Ikemba Front, known for supporting the late Ifeanyi Uba’s gubernatorial ambitions, was thrown into disarray when two key officers, Dr. Chiedu Okoye and Dr. Charles Ebolue, declared their support for Chukwuma.

This action resulted in their immediate expulsion, according to a statement issued following a meeting in Awka presided over by National Coordinator Sir Arinzechukwu Awogu and signed by National Secretary Ike-Obiegbu Ijeobi.

The expelled officers, including Ebolue, who is reportedly based in Finland, have been replaced. Prince Nonso Obi takes over as National Youth Leader, while Ijeobi remains National Secretary, with Comrade Obi Ibegbunam appointed National Assistant Secretary.

A new 20-member Elders Council, chaired by Prof. Melie Onyejegbu and Secretary Hon. Obidi Nwabueze, has also been formed as the group’s highest decision-making body.

The Ikemba Front reaffirmed its commitment to the current zoning arrangement, insisting that the governorship slot remain in Anambra South Senatorial Zone to ensure two terms. They dismissed Chukwuma’s endorsement as a “jamboree” staged by “imposters.”

Meanwhile, the APC has announced the official schedule for the Anambra governorship primaries.

Nomination and expression of interest forms cost N50 million, but female aspirants, Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs), and youths aged 25-40 are eligible for a waiver.
