China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, Arrives In Nigeria For High-Level Talks
Abuja, Nigeria – Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is set to arrive in Abuja, Nigeria, on Wednesday for an official visit, marking a significant diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
The visit, confirmed by a press statement released Tuesday by the spokesperson of the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, will see the high-ranking official – who also serves as a Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China – engage in crucial bilateral discussions.
Upon arrival at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Mr. Wang Yi will be received by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dunoma Ahmed.
The centerpiece of Mr. Wang Yi’s visit will be a meeting with his Nigerian counterpart, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, on Thursday, January 9th, 2025. This meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja will focus on bolstering the existing relationship between Nigeria and China.
The talks are expected to cover a range of issues aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Furthermore, Mr. Wang Yi will pay a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa.
During this meeting, he will deliver a special message from the Chinese President.
The nature of this message remains undisclosed but is anticipated to further underscore the importance China places on its relationship with Nigeria.
The visit underscores the growing strategic partnership between China and Nigeria, two significant players on the global stage.
