APC Chieftain Urges Tinubu To Investigate Frequent National Grid Collapses

Osogbo, Osun State – A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Mr. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has called on President Bola Tinubu to launch a full-scale investigation into the recurring collapses of Nigeria’s national grid.

Speaking to reporters in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker and member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), expressed deep concern over the situation.

He highlighted that the grid’s collapse last Wednesday marked the twelfth such incident since January, a figure he described as alarming.

Oyintiloye emphasised the crippling effect these frequent outages have on businesses and the national economy, stating that the constant power disruptions are taking a significant toll.

“The country is blessed with all the resources needed to keep the grid running, then why the collapse all the time?” Oyintiloye questioned. “This is unacceptable.

The embarrassment must stop, and sanity must be brought back to the power sector for the sake of our economy.”

He suggested that a presidential investigation is necessary to uncover the root cause of the problem, whether it be systemic failures, negligence, or even sabotage.

Oyintiloye stressed that those found responsible for the grid’s instability should be held accountable.

“If an act of sabotage is involved, through investigation, that will be revealed,” he added.

Oyintiloye also urged the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, to ensure that those responsible for the grid’s maintenance are fulfilling their duties effectively.

He argued that given the high cost of electricity borne by Nigerians, they deserve a reliable and consistent power supply in return.

The former lawmaker concluded by emphasising the urgent need for a lasting solution to this persistent national problem.
