Ex-APC Chieftain Condemns FCT Demolitions, Blasts Tinubu’s Silence
Abuja, NNigeriaFormer All Progressives Congress (APC) National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Timi Frank, has strongly condemned the ongoing mass demolitions of houses in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under Minister Nyesom Wike, criticising President Bola Tinubu’s silence on the matter.
In a statement released Friday in Abuja, Frank accused Wike of inflicting “pain on Nigerians” and engaging in oppressive tactics.
Frank stated that the demolitions have caused immense suffering and loss for affected homeowners, adding that President Tinubu’s inaction amounts to an endorsement of illegality and disregard for citizens’ rights.
He urged the President to immediately intervene and halt the demolitions, warning that the FCT administration’s actions could have repercussions for the 2027 presidential election.
Frank further criticised Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s assertion that the Senate cannot halt the demolitions due to court orders, suggesting that a Senate resolution urging a stop to the demolitions is effectively meaningless.
He accused Akpabio and others of potentially benefiting from Wike’s land acquisitions under the guise of restoring the FCT master plan.
Frank alleges that Wike is acting with presidential approval, citing Tinubu’s silence as evidence.
He accused Wike of using theq demolitions to vent his anger following a political setback in Rivers State, targeting innresidents, idents and undermining the judicial system.
He also warned that the demolitions, particularly those affecting those with legitimate titles, will deter foreign investors.
Frank highlighted instances of Wike allegedly seizing land and reallocating it to himself, family, and associates.
He called for compensation for victims and urged Nigerians to condemn both Wike’s actions and Tinubu’s silence.
He concluded by emphasizing that Tinubu, not Wike, will face the electorate in 2027 and that Wike’s actions are jeopardising Tinubu’s electoral prospects.
