Tinubu Media Group Backs Mass Sacking Of Civil Servants With Fake Degrees
Abuja, Nigeria – The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) has issued a strong endorsement of the federal government’s recent dismissal of civil servants holding fake degrees obtained from universities in Benin Republic and Togo.
In a statement released today, TMV Chairman Chukwudi Enekwechi and Secretary Shadrach Sunday lauded the move as a significant step in President Bola Tinubu’s anti-corruption campaign.
The group expressed concern over the lack of accreditation for many of these universities, highlighting the unethical practices of individuals acquiring fraudulent credentials to secure civil service positions.
“What quality of service will they offer?” the statement questioned, emphasising the importance of rigorous academic processes.
The TMV pointed out the alarming speed with which some Nigerians obtain these degrees, often within six months to a year, further underscoring their dubious nature.
The TMV’s statement characterized the government’s action as a necessary sanitization of the educational system and a crucial step towards ensuring the credibility of academic credentials.
They argued that failing to address this issue would undermine President Tinubu’s ambitious goal of achieving a one trillion dollar economy. A knowledge-based civil service, they stressed, is paramount to achieving this vision.
The group urged the government to implement robust measures to penalize those involved in obtaining and using fake degrees, thereby preventing future occurrences.
The TMV’s strong support for the government’s actions signals a broader societal concern over the integrity of Nigeria’s educational system and the importance of ethical conduct within the public service.
The dismissal of these civil servants marks a decisive move by the Tinubu administration to tackle corruption and ensure a more competent and qualified workforce.
