Matawalle Commends Tinubu’s Administration For Clearing Military Salary Arrears, Pensions
Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigerian military has received a significant boost to morale following the prompt payment of salary increases and outstanding pension arrears, according to the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle.
In a press release issued today, Dr. Matawalle lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his decisive action in addressing long-standing financial issues affecting both serving and retired military personnel.
The Minister confirmed that serving military personnel have begun receiving alerts for a three-month salary increase.
Simultaneously, funds have been released to settle outstanding pensions and other entitlements owed to retired personnel.
Dr. Matawalle specifically thanked the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, for his instrumental role in securing these payments.
“This initiative reflects President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of both serving and retired military personnel,” Dr. Matawalle stated.
He emphasised that the payment of pension arrears will continue to receive priority attention from the government.
The Minister acknowledged the significant sacrifices made by the Nigerian military in combating insurgency, terrorism, and other forms of criminality, stressing their crucial role in national security.
He reassured military personnel of President Tinubu’s commitment to boosting their morale and providing necessary support to effectively tackle insecurity across the nation.
Despite acknowledging initial challenges, Dr. Matawalle expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s dedication to improving the conditions of the armed forces.
He urged the military to remain steadfast in their duties, assuring them of the government’s unwavering resolve to eradicate insecurity in Nigeria.
