SPPG To Host 2024 Africa Conference In Abuja, Focusing On Rethinking Governance, Leadership

Abuja, Nigeria –  As Africa struggles with a slew of crises, the School of Politics, Policy, and Governance (SPPG) is planning its 2024 Africa Conference in Abuja, Nigeria.

The event, which will take place on October 3rd and 4th, 2024, at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, aims to spark a critical dialogue about rethinking African governance and leadership.

The conference, which is expected to bring together influential figures from across the continent, including politicians, policymakers, and civil society leaders, will focus on developing practical solutions to African governance challenges.

Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili, former Minister of Education and founder of SPPG, emphasises the need for a new breed of African leaders: “The time has come for Africa to bring on board leaders who are courageous, can change the narrative, and will prioritise citizens’ welfare and interests over self-interest.”

The conference takes place at a critical juncture for Africa, as the continent grapples with a complex confluence of crises such as food insecurity, regional instability, climate change, and the long-term effects of COVID 19.

The event will include expert panels, facilitated discussions, and breakout sessions aimed at finding innovative solutions to Africa’s governance challenges. These sessions will centre on:
