Fubara Vows ‘Never To Surrender’ To Blackmail, Reiterates Commitment To Peace, Development
Port Harcourt, Rivers State – Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara delivered a strong message of peace, development, and good governance on Nigeria’s 64th anniversary of independence.
During the Independence Day Parade, the Governor acknowledged the nation’s challenges but emphasised the importance of unity and progress.
Governor Fubara praised President Bola Tinubu’s bold economic reforms aimed at correcting past structural issues, emphasising the need for Governors to collaborate with the Federal Government to address security concerns in the North and Niger Delta.
He assured the President of his unwavering loyalty and promised Rivers State’s continued support for a united and prosperous Nigeria.
The Governor also highlighted his administration’s major accomplishments, such as progress on infrastructure projects like the Port Harcourt Ring Road and the Trans-Kalabari Road.
He emphasised education, including school rehabilitation, teacher recruitment, and the implementation of a 65-year retirement age for teachers.
Significant healthcare infrastructure improvements have also been made, with the completion of Zonal Hospitals and the ongoing construction of a new General Hospital in Rumuigbo. Rivers State University Teaching Hospital has also received accreditation for six specialist programs.
To further strengthen the state’s economy, the Governor emphasised internal revenue generation efforts as well as the establishment of the Rivers State Investment Promotion Agency to drive industrialisation and job creation.
Governor Fubara emphasised his commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all Rivers State residents, promising to maintain equal social and economic opportunities.
He also addressed recent controversies surrounding his administration, stating that his government would “never surrender to barefaced lies and blackmail” and would remain committed to the people’s welfare.
Governor Fubara reiterated his commitment to providing good governance and fulfilling the promises made to citizens, citing his strong belief in Rivers State and Nigeria’s potential.
He encouraged Nigerians to band together, overcome obstacles, and work towards a strong and prosperous nation.
