Reports Of Obi, Wife’s Arrest Baseless, Says Aide
Mr. Peter Obi, former Anambra State Governor and presidential candidate, is said to have been arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) at his home in Anambra.
However, Mr. Obi’s media adviser, Valentine Obienyem, quickly refuted these claims.
Mr Obienyem categorically denied the reports in a statement issued on Tuesday. He clarified that the rumour first surfaced on Saturday but was quickly dispelled. Despite this, the false narrative appears to be spreading.
Mr. Obienyem also revealed that Mr. Obi was not present in Anambra State at the time of the alleged incident. “As of Saturday, Mr. Obi was in Rwanda for important engagements,” he stated. “He has since returned to Nigeria and is now in Edo State, where he is actively involved in party and national issues.”
The statement also refuted the claim that Mr. Obi’s wife had been arrested, calling it a fabrication designed to mislead the public and cause unnecessary panic among his supporters.
“There was no DSS operation at his house, and no arrests were made,” Mr. Obienyem stated.
He urged the public to disregard the falsehood and remain vigilant against the spread of misinformation, reassuring them that any official communication about Mr. Obi would be released through proper channels.
As the situation unfolds, Mr. Obi remains focused on his commitment to the nation, while his team continues to provide accurate updates on his activities.
