My Government Would’ve Heralded Prosperity, Atiku Replies Bode George Over Comments
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar responded on Saturday to Chief Bode George’s comments on Arise Television on Friday, in which he stated that if he was elected president in 2023, Nigeria would experience upheaval.
In a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, Atiku stated that his presidency would have heralded prosperity, driven by competent individuals.
George had said, “If Atiku had won, I would have stayed at home because I knew he would collapse in the future.” This country will never accept.
“Do you think the country would have been more stable if he had won that election? Because someone from the north (Buhari) had just completed eight years, and our own rule is that after eight years, the presidential candidate must travel to the south.”
Atiku stated, “Contrary to Chief Bode George’s imprudent talk, a @atiku presidency would have heralded an era of prosperity, driven by a cabinet brimming with seasoned and adept individuals, chosen solely on merit, regardless of background or beliefs.
“Such leadership would have protected Nigeria’s interests by avoiding the bigotry, nepotism, and corruption that characterise this administration. Nigeria would have thrived under Atiku’s leadership, rather than its current state of disarray caused by haphazard policies.
“In contrast, we see Bode George, who once threatened exile if Tinubu won power, now oddly silent about the current administration. Is Bode’s reticence due to the fact that Atiku is not from his region? It is prudent to approach Bode’s opinions with caution.
“Additionally, Bode’s actions are a disservice to the military, which is known for its unity. Here is a Commodore who, paradoxically, promotes tribalism while undermining military principles. It is a source of shame for the armed forces to have such a person among their ranks.”
